It’s so weird really…the idea that I’ve published enough books in the series to have a boxed set, haha. I’ve only been at this for a little over a year and a half, yet I feel as though I’ve come such a long way. My writing is the ONE thing I know I for certain do right, and to be able to present it to you in the form of these books…gosh, it’s the best feeling!

Anywho, gonna be posting a youtube vid tomorrow, me thinks. A passage reading from one of the Guardians of Illyria books, which I’m uber excited about, because of COURSE I’m gonna make it fun.

Happy Cyber Monday shopping, Readers!

Gayest Excerpt Ever

Well, sorta, haha…

Here’s a snippet from the third book, where Ion gains sight of something he never even knew could be seen. It’s definitely a spoiler alert, so don’t read ahead if you’re not down for that sort of thang. But for those of you who are….ENJOY! And don’t forget to get your copy here! And add my Facebook and twitter!

Chapter Twenty-Three

The Thunder Lord

Mearic and I clung to the window of his chamber, our eyes fixed on the army in the distance.

Sol was so eerily quiet I could almost hear the rash of bumps rising on my arms and neck. The front line of the army was a row of ants on the desert hill beyond the gates. They were too far for me to make any of them out, but my ears were buzzing now more than ever. And I knew where the buzzing was coming from. Among those soldiers was Lillian…Theo…my sister. What were they going to do if we faced one another? What was I going to do?

My chest tightened at the thought. Triplets save me.

In the middle of the front lines, I could make out some of the soldiers shuffling about, parting as a large object was rolled forward. A small glimmer of light twinkled off its rounded edges. Metal.

“Come,” I told Mearic, eyes still fixed on the glimmer. “We must join your father.”

I’m not sure why, but I grabbed Mearic’s hand without even a thought, rushing us to the lift. It was only when the platform shifted and rushed upward that I realized I still had his hand in mine. I looked down at our interlaced fingers—as he’d been doing—and quickly pulled away.

“Uh, sorry,” I said, warmth rising in my cheeks.

Silence fell, and then I felt his hand slip back into mine. I looked at him, and slowly, that smile that reminded me so much of my mother’s parted his lips. His kind of…pretty lips. In that moment, with the wind in our ears, and our eyes locked, we said so much to each other. I told him of how he reminded me of my mother and her gentle, caring nature. I told him that he’d been the only person to make me laugh in over a year. I told him of my plans. And I told him that I’d protect him at all costs.

I tightened my other hand into a fist. At all costs.

Youtube!!!

Hello peoplez! So, against my better judgment, I started a youtube channel! DUN DUN DUN! I thought it’d be a much more entertaining way to connect with readers, since I looooathe writing blogs about writing, lol.

Here’s the first vid 🙂

My Latest “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!” Moment

Though I’ve had many o’ “awe!” moments in the past months of having my first book out there, I had one special night just recently on a usual morning of answering/sending emails on Goodreads. It was the first email I opened and it was from  a fan (good gods, it’s weird to use that word in regards to ANYTHING related to my work) saying he loves my book so much he has his manager at the bookstore he works at special order The Iron-Jawed Boy so he could sell them to the kids when they come in. CRAZINESS, RIGHT?!?!? Hashtag Mindblown.

Another recent “awe! SO SQUISHY!” moment was the other day when I saw a mom had posted in a forum on Amazon about how she’s anticipating the 2nd book because she read the first one to her 8 year old son and he was in LOVE with it. It’s like…YOU LIKE ME! YOU REALLY LIKE ME!!!

I’m hoping to see more and more of these moments in the near future. Most especially with indie awards season coming up in the summer 🙂

London Book Festival

Ello again!

So, a few months ago, my first book, The Iron-Jawed Boy, won an Honorable Mention at the London Book Festival and I totally forgot to blog about it. I shall now correct such a wrong by…BLOGGING ABOUT IT! 😀

It was actually a really cool feeling, to even be mentioned, at the Festival. I mean, I’m only 23, and was 22 when I published the book, and to think that everyone who’s reading the novel are loving it, so much so that it gets honored somewhere is beyond cool to me. I’m so proud of my little book 😀 Sometimes I think it’s the ONE area of my life where I know I’m truly talented. That, and my ability to scream in a very high-pitched way whenever I see a spider. Seriously, they’re ridiculous and need to go away.

Another update I definitely didn’t blog about was my new book cover for the first book. It has Ion riding on a tornado…what’s not to like about that!?!??!

The Iron-Jawed Boy-a copy

I’m thinking about making a youtube channel, but I have absolutely no clue what it’d be about. I just want a better way to be out there than just lame-o twitter. Oooooh, or maybe I’ll start a Vine!! Hmmmmm…ideeeeas…

All right, off to go dance the night away for my best friend’s birthday. Hope everyone’s doing well, and make sure you get your ecopy of my novellas on Amazon! The paperbacks will be available by next week or so, gods willing.
